Successful online campaigns are created with a solid internet marketing plan. Right now the internet is in such a state that it is very easy to get overwhelmed! Stop! Don't stop until you implement the action steps required in your internet marketing plan.

What Are Your Internet Marketing Strategies?

So what are your options for marketing online? There are a plethora of strategies available. There are 3 broad categories as follows: 1) social sites and media 2) information marketing and 3) paid advertising.

Social media and content marketing are good strategies to begin with as they are mostly free. Of course, there is overlap of these areas as you can have paid advertising on content and social media sites.

Marketing Platforms - Defined

Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are the more well known of the social media platforms. These social media sites are free to join which makes it appealing to internet marketers. Your internet marketing plan for these sites will require time to maintain, update and modify your profile on a regular basis. Social media sites "market" very well if your profile is current.

Content marketing platforms allow you to share your knowledge online. The content sites allow you to create and share videos, articles and more. The goal of content sharing is to become a leading expert in the field of knowledge you chose.

The internet was built on the sharing of knowledge. Google was founded by two PhDs who originally created a way to search and index university publications.

Your content that is shared will be indexed by Google and other search engines. To become an authority figure online, you will need to be "popular" online; this being dependent on several factors.

Finally, paid marketing includes any marketing that is paid for. It is possible to pay for advertising on social and content networks such as Facebook and YouTube! How's that for your internet marketing plan evolution?

What Is Your Marketing Knowledge?

There are more options to your internet marketing plan than described above. How familiar are you with the 3 broad areas described above? Do you consider yourself a marketer? Do you have an internet marketing plan in place? Will you begin marketing right away?

Before marketing, you will need to consider many questions. When marketing online, it is possible to spend a lot of money and have very little results. It is also easy to spend little money and get big results. It all depends on your internet marketing plan. How you implement your internet marketing plan will determine your success.

Create your internet marketing plan and then start implementing it. Once implemented, you will learn and adapt to new strategies. And the magic begins sometime at this point...

Your Internet Marketing Level

The foundation for your internet marketing plan will consider the following:

  1. Number of sales online.

  2. Number of leads generated online.

  3. Hours of daily internet marketing available.

Beginner - Zero to very few sales online. Generated between 0-10 leads online. Able to market 1-2 hours daily.

Mid-level - Some online sales. Generated less than 100 leads. Can allot 2-3 hours for marketing online on a daily basis.

Experienced - Easily making sales online. Easily generating 10-25+ leads daily. 4-6 hours of daily marketing.

Take the above into consideration when making your internet marketing plan. As with any marketing, online and internet marketing can be a full time effort in time, resources and energy.

Internet Marketing Plan - What To Focus On

Choose from the following broad categories when choosing on what to focus on. As a beginning and mid-level marketer, it is highly recommended that you focus on ONLY ONE from each of the categories. As an experienced marketer, you can comfortably handle two from each category.

Social Media - Blogging, Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn

Content Marketing - Video Marketing, Article Marketing, Blog, Squidoo/HubPages

Paid Marketing - Google AdWords, Yahoo!/MSN PPC, Facebook PPC, Ezine PPC

When considering paid media strategies, you MUST begin with a minimum of $300-$500 per month in advertising dollars. Contine with paid advertising for at least 6 months.

Good luck in your internet marketing plan and advertising efforts.
