With new liposuction treatments having been developed over the recent years, liposuction is now one of the top cosmetic procedures being requested by patients. The following are some of the most commonly requested body parts treated.
Abdomen
The body part most commonly treated with lipo is the abdominal region. Liposuction treatment can be done on both the upper and lower portions of the stomach. For many people, the abdominal region is one of the most difficult areas of the body to flatten and tone, even with proper diet and exercise. This is commonly due to age, pregnancy, and gaining and losing weight. The abdominal region is also a common site for the body to store excess fat. Lipo of the stomach region can help eliminate a pot belly, muffin top, and love handles.
Anterior Thighs
The anterior thighs or front of the thighs is another stubborn part of the body in terms of fat stores. Many patients who seek liposuction treatment of the anterior thighs do so to achieve a smoother contour of the appearance of the front of the thighs.
Outer Thighs
For many women, it's the outer thighs that are a problem. With fat settling on the outer thighs and hips of females, they often get what are referred to as "saddlebags." The appearance of these excess fat stores is undesirable to many women. When seeking liposuction treatment of these areas, the area is usually divided and treated into two separate areas: the upper portion of the posterior thigh and the area of the buttocks. This helps to achieve a slimmer and more contoured appearance.
Inner Thighs
The inner thighs are also a common concern for women. It is very common for the inner thighs to be treated at the same time the patient is undergoing treatment of another area of the thighs or knees. The inner thighs are known to heal faster than other parts of the body after undergoing the procedure.
Buttocks Region
Another common area of liposuction treatment is the area of fat directly below the crease of the buttocks where the thigh begins. This is a common procedure among both men and women.
Legs and Ankles
There are other areas of the legs, including the ankles that can also be treated. Liposuction treatment of the ankles can help those with so-called "cankles" achieve a slimmer appearance of the lower portion of the legs. The only area of the legs that surgeons do not recommend having treated are the back of the knees, as there are many vital blood vessels and nerves in that region.
Arms
The arms are frequently treated in the upper portion near the armpits. Women tend to develop fat pads in this region with age or weight gain. Men typically do not have a problem with this region of their body, thus the procedure is performed mostly on women.
Face and Neck
The face and neck regions, including the chin (double chin), can also undergo liposuction treatment. Men and women commonly request lipo of double chins, cheeks and jowls to help achieve a smoother and more youthful appearance of the face.
Gynecomastia: Male Breasts
Some men develop fatty breasts. To firm up this area, men with gynecomastia can have liposuction treatment performed of the chest region. This procedure helps men with this problem feel more confident about their overall appearance.
