The warmer months are full of activities and food. But before planning your next BBQ party, consider meal options that can not only help with your fat loss plan but could benefit your guests as well.

With the summer season including all types of wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables that are hard to come by during the winter months it’s a great time to take advantage of the assortment. Let’s face it, luscious berries and freshly made salsa make your mouth water just thinking about them.

Whether it be BBQs or your general fat loss plan menu meal preparation is important for not only yourself but your family too. Getting creative with tummy flattening foods certainly doesn’t have to be as boring as most folk tend to make it out to be. And often your family will never guess that the foods that you’re including in your eating regime, to improve your health, are actually part of your fat loss plan.

Here’s just a handful of great healthy food options that you can include to help you reduce body fat:

  1. Salmon is packed full of essential fatty acids that help to regulate insulin and improve blood sugar control. Omega-3s help to burn off more calories that can easily end up as fat in other foods.

  2. Everyone loves salsa - and I’ll let you in on a little secret – it’s good for you! Make your own healthy salsa with fresh tomatoes - and your family may never go back to store bought option.

  3. Eggs are a good source of protein with top-notch amino acid content and an excellent way to dress up salads. Plus they’re quick and easy to prepare.

  4. Blueberries have proven to be high in tannins, an astringent that helps to reduce inflammation in the digestive tract. They are also a high natural source of antioxidants and fibre.

  5. Spinach is called the super veggie and for good reason. Not just for effective use in a fat loss plan but also for providing a constant source of beta carotene, vitamin C, folate, calcium and magnesium for the entire family. And the recipes and meals spinach can be used in seems endless.

  6. Almonds - Keep snack bags full of ¼ cup almonds for a quick treat - with or without a serve or portion of fruit. If you are on a fat loss plan, measuring your portions is recommended – not just with almonds – but all of your food choices and portions.

  7. Yogurt is becoming a favorite protein source and treat. Live cultures keep digestion operating properly and helps boost the immune system. Be very particular in selecting yogurt as some brands contain high levels of artificial sweeteners.

Sensible eating together with a good exercise program will keep you feeling refreshed and ready to go helping you enjoy a solid and effective regime for your fat loss plan all year round.

Yours in fun, health and fitness
