For those of us that can still remember the first web browsers like Netscape and the first Internet Explorer, then Firefox is a real revolution. Despite the fact that Microsoft got themselves in hot water countless times with the way they handled cookies and with their web browser the target of countless viruses and malware its quickly losing its popularity.

One of the main reasons why Mozilla Firefox is such a great web browser is the fact that its open source. Its created by "the people", for "the people" and allows anyone to create applications to work with this open source software. because of this, its growing at a very rapid rate and is now one of the most popular software downloads on the internet. There are hundreds of thousands of plugins that can help you do virtually anything. Here are what I consider to be the 3 best ones.

  1. LastPass

Do you get annoyed by having hundreds of passwords for all your hundreds of websites? Wouldn't it be great if you had just one password that gives you access to all the sites that constantly asks you for passwords? With LastPass you can do exactly that. It stores all your passwords and login details securely and even allows you to automatically log into any site that requires a passwords. It makes life on the internet a whole lot simpler. No more writing down passwords on pieces of paper or trying to save them in a word file that you can never find.

  1. Fireshot

Fireshot is a neat little plugin that allows you to take screen shots at the press of a button. It allows you to set picture quality and allows you to set a whole lot of things at the touch of a button. Taking screen-grabs can be a very slow and cumbersome process and often times the images come out with poor quality. With Fireshot you will have a perfect screen grab every time.

  1. Onlywire

If you do a lot of surfing on the web then you probably have a lot of bookmarks. Keeping them organised can be a real nightmare which is why I would highly recommend the Onlywire plugin for Firefox. It allows you to instantly post bookmarks to any of more than 20 social bookmarking sites and it really is as easy as clicking a button. The best part is that all your bookmarks will be kept safely and neatly on your account.
