There are many webmasters across the web who would love to rank for top keywords and begin making a ton of money online. The problem with this is the search engines are extremely overcrowded so if you want to start ranking for important terms you will need to learn everything you possibly can about how to rank for keywords. There are several ways which you can begin ranking for the keywords you would like to rank well for. One important factor before you begin search engine optimization is the time frame you should be aware of. It is nearly impossible to begin ranking well in Google and the other major search engines quickly. People think that if they go overboard with internet marketing and their websites will not be subject to Google’s Sandbox. Really the only way to overcome the Google Sandbox is around a year of being indexed in Google. After this time you will be able to rank for anything you would like to rank well for.

One of the most important factors when trying to get indexed in Google and trying to rank well in Google is quality link building. There are many resources across the web which will allow you to build links and start ranking in Google. One way to create links which is overlooked is creating content that will generate links naturally. There are major blogs and websites all over the web which have well over a hundred thousand links and the majority did not need to buy or build these links manually. The content they create is called authority content so when they publish an article the article will generate hundreds if not thousands of links. This is link bait to the extreme and should not be expected by new webmasters who have not established themselves as experts within their niche. If a newer webmaster creates a website or blog they will need to some of the promotion for themselves. In the beginning of an online business the only links you will be able to get are the links that you build for yourself.

When you need to build links for yourself it is a good idea to start with free general directories. These are some of the easiest link building resources that are free and do not have the no follow attribute attached to the link. Whenever I create a new website or blog I head over to directorycritic.com which has a list of several thousand free web directories. After you submit to this list with keywords you would like to rank well for it is a good idea to move onto link exchanges. There are several ways which you can start exchanging links one of the most common and more traditional means of creating link exchanges is using email. This is fine, but will take quite a bit of time. If you would prefer to speed the process there is a link exchange directory over at linkmarket.com which makes link exchanges extremely simple just cut and paste and the directory will do the rest. Another form of quality link building is submitting your content to article directories. Simply go to Google and type in "list of article directories" and you will find hundreds of free article directories you can submit articles to.
