In trying economic times, businesses look for ways to cut costs and still maintain the level of customer service their clients are accustomed to. And, not many can walk this tightrope effectively. There is one way to do it though, and almost any business can make it work. What is it?
Virtualization Software
It continues to be embraced by small and large businesses alike. And particularly during tough economic times, it’s easy to see why. Namely, businesses can effectively cut costs, while at the same time increase employee productivity and continue to deliver great customer service. And, it’s all because desktop virtualization software allows businesses to do the following.
The Cost-Saving Benefits of Desktop Virtualization: How Much are You Losing?
Businesses that operate in a virtualized environment don’t need to allocate space for physical machines (servers). This is because virtual desktops are hosted on remote, centralized servers. This means a firm can downsize to smaller quarters if need be. And, as office expenses are often a large part of any company’s operating budget, this can mean huge savings.
Another advantage of desktop virtualization is that employees can easily work remotely. Since many employees can access the same server at the same time, a firm can again save on office space, while allowing employees to work from the comfort of home. This has been shown to increase worker productivity. Proof?
According to a 2009 Teleworker Survey conducted by Cisco, telecommuting employees are very productive. The survey found that the company garnered an estimated annual savings of $277 million in productivity by allowing employees to work from home. Another key finding that stood out in this survey is that employees spent almost two-thirds of the time (60 percent) they saved on telecommuting, working.
Given these realizations, how much could your firm benefit from desktop virtualization?
