Hotdog carts have been part of my favorite past times. When I was a kid growing up, I used to go to Yankee stadium with my friends and eat hotdogs from the same hotdog cart every game. My friends and I never had tickets to the game, but we'd go and get our hotdogs from "Charlie HotDog" and try to get tickets to go to the game. We weren't too successful with the tickets, but we loved those hotdogs.

Back then, hotdogs were just part of enjoying the games, being with my pals and being a kid. I had no idea that hotdog carts could be a great business providing a steady income for me, let along my family, which is exactly what it is today.

Starting a hotdog vending business is exactly that, a business. When you're starting a hotdog cart business it's important to keep in mind that although it seems like "anyone can do it," that's far from the truth. The hotdog carts business can be very lucrative with the right business plan.

Tip #1 - Location

The key to starting a successful hotdog cart business is location. Remember "Charlie Hotdog"? How do you think he got his hotdog stand to be right in front of Yankee Stadium? He just walked up and put his cart there. Of course not! Charlie's hotdog stand had one of the best locations possible for any hotdog stand, a busy event area that has steady traffic, of course everyone wants to grab a "hotdog and beer" at a ball game, which can't hurt either, but remember, research your location first!

Tip #2 - Add Ons

I know we're jumping ahead of the game a little bit, but hotdog add-ons can't be overlooked. If you don't have "extras" - canned soda, potato chips, etc. - you're leaving way too much money on the table and out of your pocket. I sell 2 different special homemade drinks at my stand that cost me 5 cents, but has customers coming back every time and putting extra money in my pocket every time I roll out my hotdog cart.

There are a lot of other important things to know about the hotdog cart vending business - how to make money on bad weather days, how to get cheap and even free commercial cooking supplies and a lot more! Hopefully you're still serious about starting your hotdog cart business, but realize that you need a plan first. Good luck starting your hotdog cart business. Maybe you'll be parked next to me!
