Greetings everyone! My name is Sandra. For many years I have dealt with the problem of cold sores. This is something we all deal with from time to time. Over the years I have learned a lot about cold sores and just how to go about preventing them. That is why I have decided to create this article and give you my list of my personal top 5 tips for preventing cold sores. I hope these tips help you as much as they have helped me. With that, let's get right to the list!

  1. Don't Spend To Long In The Sun!

First off, do not spend a long time in the sun! Keeping your lips in the sunlight for a long time is a great way of catching a cold sore. If you are going to spend a long time in the sun, consider putting sunscreen on your lips. Putting sunscreen on your lips isn't something that a lot of people think of doing, but it's really important to do this if you wish to prevent cold sores.

  1. Stay Away From Cold Sores!

If you know of someone that has cold sores, stay away from them! Intimate contact with someone who has cold sores is a great way to catch these annoying cold sores. This also means no kissing! Sorry!

  1. Don't Use Others Personal Items!

This goes with my previous tip. If you know of someone who has a cold sore, make sure not to use any of their personal items. This is a great way of the cold sore spreading to you. Using their toothbrush or ideas like that are completely out of the question. Also, don't use the same razor, towel, straws, etc. I can't stress this enough, don't give yourself the opportunity to catch a cold sore from someone else!

  1. Monitor Your Stress!

Stress is also a big factor in triggering cold sores. If you find yourself under a lot of stress, consider trying to learn some relaxation techniques. This can even include taking yoga classes or just going for a walk. You may also want to try writing a journal each night. Either way, try and keep your stress to a minimum and you should be able to keep your cold sores to a minimum.

  1. Avoid Certain Foods!

Finally, avoid foods that you feel may be causing cold sores. Different foods can cause cold sores for different people. Your best bet is to keep a close eye on what you eat, and try to look for any connections to any cold sores you may have had in the past.

With that, I hope this list has been informative for you. Cold Sores can be very painful and are a big annoyance to a lot of people. However, if you know how to prevent them in the first place, then you won't have any problems with them! Hopefully these tips I have shared will help you as much as they have helped me. Good luck!
