The Bottle Yard was created with the aim of attracting major film makers to the city from the UK and the US, bringing money to the city as well as strengthening its international profile.
The city has been home to the long-running BBC drama Casualty since 1989, but production of the drama will move to Cardiff in 2011. Bristol City Council and South West Screen, the organisations which fund and manage The Bottle Yard, hope that the production space will fill the gap left by the hospital drama. "There are only a handful of other filming locations of this kind in the country," said Emma Chappell of SWS. "So we're hopeful that the project could be a big success."
Bristol attracts thousands of business visitors every year, many of whom work in its creative industries: creative companies in the city include Aardman Animations, the business behind Wallace and Gromit. Other businesses with large offices in Bristol include Toshiba Telecommunications, whose research laboratory is based in Bristol; The Soil Association; and DAS, a legal expenses insurance provider. Nick Park, Director of Aardman Animations, has explained: "What I love about Bristol is that it's got the buzz of a city but you can still walk down the street and bump into people you know. There is a very good community feel."
For businesspeople staying in Bristol on a short term basis, whether to work in the city’s creative industries or in any other sector, the accommodation they use will greatly affect how well they can use their time and how comfortable they are. Serviced apartments in Bristol provide business visitors with an easy, convenient way to stay in the city and experience its community feel.
The serviced apartments Bristol provides offer great convenience to the business traveller. Whatever hours you work and whatever job you do, it’s important to have a place where you can relax when you’re not at work. Serviced apartments in Bristol provide a great deal more space than hotels, allowing business visitors to unwind on a sofa in their free time rather than being restricted to a bed in a small hotel room. Serviced apartments also generally come with desks, so those who work irregular hours or often work outside of the office - such as people working in the creative industries - will have plenty of space to do so.
Furthermore, serviced apartments in Bristol allow guests to truly experience what it’s like to live in such an exciting city. You can shop in the city’s many delis and cook in their own apartment without relying on hotel meals; at the same time, it will never be difficult to eat out when you feel like it. Most of the serviced apartments Bristol has to offer are either in the centre of the city or near transport links, making sure that the top class restaurants – as well as the bars, cinemas and theatres – of Bristol city centre are never far away.
Boasting a worldwide range in excess of 41,000 properties, SilverDoor is Europe’s leading independent serviced apartments agency. As well as serviced apartments Bristol, SilverDoor can provide accommodation in many other major UK cities.
