If after years of contemplating and finally deciding to have it done, and then your liposuction surgery goes bad, it is no wonder you are reading this and thinking to yourself “how can I possibly fix this?” We all tend to believe that nothing can go wrong and when it does, we are stunned and bewildered.
It is understood that prior to taking any steps toward major surgery, including liposuction, you should be completely prepared in advance. The most practical way to approach the entire process is to consult with your surgeon before the procedure, while you are considering this option to change your body for the better, to make sure you and your doctor are on the same page. This is the ideal time to learn of all potential risks involved with liposuction and surgery in general.
If you are unfortunate to be one of those people with a less-than-desirable result, you need to know what to do next.
One of the very first indications of something having gone wrong is if you are in pain. Contact your doctor to manage the pain. Once you have that under control, try to ascertain the reason for the pain you are experiencing. Is it just that you take longer than average to heal from surgeries? Since every person is different, it could merely be that you going through the normal process that comes after-surgery.
When in doubt, set up an appointment with the doctor who performed your liposuction surgery and see them as soon as possible. If your reaction to the surgery is a normal one and something the doctor has witnessed before, you will be reassured when he outlines your options.
After your surgery if there is a real problem at hand, the first thing you should do is to contact the surgeon who performed the liposuction. You may be averse to going to see them again since, understandably, you feel that they are the cause of the problem in the first place. If this is the case, then you have the option of contacting a liposuction correction specialist but you should do so carefully, checking the practice’s reputation, experience and record. Though the most ideal option should be to go back to your first doctor, you may not feel confident about their abilities since your surgery wasn’t up to par.
As with any medical procedure, things can go wrong. If your liposuction surgery is one of the relatively few that does go bad, then you should have options lined up to resolve the situation and move on. It is important to remember that the negative experiences are few and far between, and even though the media highlights cases when liposuction goes bad, they are still quite rare.
