The weather is always changing at the most inconvenient times, you dress for the sun, it rains, you leave your scarf at home and the wind chills you to the bone. Making sure you’ve got the most appropriate footwear for the season is key to ensuring you don’t get caught out by the weather. This post will guide you through the three types of footwear you should have in your wardrobe to make sure you’re ready for any weather.

The Snug Shoe

The snug has been a mainstay of the winter season and has recently seen great popularity due in part to the Ugg boot brand which stormed the high street several years ago. Fur lined, easy to slip on and warm, they’re perfect for those cold winter mornings when your hands are too cold to tie your boot laces. Typically they have rubber soles with tracks on them giving you stability in the snow or wet weather condition. Snug colours are usually quite limited with classic brown, black and occasionaly white being the range available. This can make it quite difficult to match an outfit around the snug shoe; however, if you’re just trying to keep warm in a cold winter climate people are a lot more forgiving about slightly miss matching shoes. Snug shoes are frowned upon in formal situations and should be avoided for work unless you have a very informal office environment.

The Boot

The boot is one of the most versatile items you can have in your wardrobe, perfect for work and play and usable in virtually all weather conditions. Types of boot that are really hot right now include any boot with a shearling lining (ankle boots are great for this), low healed boots (which are perfect for the office) and the ever present ankle boot. Ankle boots are perfect for matching your wardrobe with the latest trends. Animal print or black lace are right on trend at the moment so why not jazz up one of your going out dresses with a on trend signature boot.

The Shoe

For everything else you can always rely on the humble, but never overlooked, shoe to fulfil your wardrobe purpose. Perfect for Autumn, Spring, Summer and Winter, if you’re feeling adventurous the shoe gives you the most flexibility with your outfit. There are so many sizes, shapes and colours available, so trying to find some shoes that match the colours you like to wear should be easy. Shoes can easily change the whole look of an outfit and can be used in a variety of different contexts to great effect. Try using a fierce kitten heal with your work outfit to give it a bit an edgy look, a stylish yet refined brogue can help create a casual but work friendly outfit, and those killer red stilletos will turn heads where ever you go.
