Whenever someone wants a website to be developed, one of the major things that comes into his mind is how much will it cost to create a website. There are many factors to be considered when hiring a web design team to develop your website, among them there is the complexity of the website, the website’s size, hourly fees from that very web design firm and not only. Let’s dig more into this subject and find out what makes a website designing costly or not.
The main fees come from two things: hourly rates from the web design firm and how complex the website is, meaning that you will pay less for a 5-10 pages website and way more for let’s say an ecommerce website design work, meaning a more complex site. Another thing that should be taken into consideration is the portfolio and reputation of the company hired to develop your website. Is it a natural thing that freelancers will charge cheaper sometimes but as in everything on this world, brands costs more and having a website built by professionals with many years of experience behind could worth the money invested.
The second thing to consider related to website design prices will be the monthly/annual maintenance, which basically translates into looking after the website, making some changes that you may want them to make, taking care of problems like hacking and so on. Again, there are companies not charging a penny for maintenance and companies that charge quite a lot for taking care of the newly created website and also this depends on the type of website they have developed.
The third aspect is related to domain name cost and hosting cost. If the domain name will not come with high fees, usually under £10/year, the hosting prices can really vary depending on what kind of web hosting plan you choose. For a small company website usually a basic shared hosting plan will keep your spending on a low level, however if you want to rely more on your hosting plan you might spend some more finances on a VPS or even a dedicated server, reaching high monthly fees that definitely worth the investment.
Other money that you could spend after developing and launching your website into the wild could be related to search engine optimisation, advertising on other websites and pay-per-click programs, however this only depends on whether you want it or not. Highly recommendable though!
