Mendoza is one of the most beautiful cities of Argentina. Mendoza City, capital of the province, has wide sidewalks bordered with water channels for irrigation, and a spectacular view of the Andes. Home of National Grape Harvest Festival, the city provides the visitor a lot of cultural and historical tours, numerous open air spaces, malls, restaurants and a a broad variety of hotels. In the city of Mendoza it may be mentioned four areas of interest, they are: Area Foundation, Parque General San Martín, Microcenter and Civic District. The city has an excellent forestation with trees, irrigated by small channels (ditches) placed near almost all the streets, providing necessary water for the plants to grow. The city is developed around Independence Plaza, where a pedestrian street is born, Avenida Sarmiento. Other streets that run perpendicular to Sarmiento (and then Garibaldi, east of San Martin Avenue), east to west are: Rioja, San Juan, San Martin Avenue (the north-south axis of the town), July 9, Spain and Patricia Mendocinas Av. and Sarmiento street. Four blocks away to the south and north respectively, run Aristides Villanueva and Las Heras Streets, where important commercial and banking activities are developed.
South of of Avenue Pedro Molina the Civic District is situated, where the majority of the public institutions in the city are located as well as the seat of the executive and judiciary power of Mendoza. This neighborhood on the south central area of the new part of town was created by Architect Belgrano Blanco in the late 40's. It is a charming great place to stroll over, visiting the huge and colorful Civic Park surrounded by neoclassical buildings and historic monuments, built greatly by general government and public offices and courts.
General San Martín Park is a site not to be missed. It was planned and executed by Carlos Thays, a French landscape architect, who applied an English style layout, and added details of XIX century sculptural art. It is regarded as one of the most lovely parks in Mendoza and also one of the the largest. It has a pretty layout and a botanical variety of species. There are beautiful sculpts, fountains, gardens, rose garden and a beautiful artificial lagoon, where visitors can rent a paddle boat. Here is where the Mendoza Yatch Club holds its competitions. The Executive Hotel in Mendoza is close to the most representative attractions of Mendoza. It is possible to simply walk to most of them. Come and enjoy the highlights the "City of the wine and the sun".
