As far as the poker hands are concerned, there are certain hands that you simply cannot afford to miss. Noted below are some of the most affluent poker hands that every player should try out:

• Jack-Jack: A safe hand indeed, the two ten-handed jacks are likely to win at least 20% of the time. If your flop shows you a king, queen or ace, you must be very careful, or else it is a smooth game.

• Ace-Queen: It is considered to be the second-best drawing hands. If the hand suits you, you stand a chance of winning the game by at least 20%.

• King-Queen: This is one of the especially suited combinations, and also an amazing drawing hand that is only fearful of the ace falling on board.

• Ace-Jack: The Ace-Jack is a great hand too. The suited hand is definitely better, but there is no problem in the unsuited hand either.

• King-Jack: When in the later positions, the King-Jack is one of the finest hands to be played. However, any of the hands mentioned above can beat this hand, and it must be folded to the big raises.

• Ace-Ten: It still remains a good hand. You have got an ace, and you can make it big if other parameters are favorable on the board.

Poker is a game of wins and losses. In order to win one game, you may have to go through a lot of losses over time. No matter how well acquainted you are with the strategies and the planning of this game, you cannot possibly win all the time.

Also, you must be aware of certain common mistakes that can turn a good hand into your worst nightmare ever.

• The 4-7, 4-8, 3-6 and 5-8: These are a few hands that will never allow you to win the game, particularly the unsuited ones. You just need to toss them. Even in a blind, all you can do is toss them. If you can see two lowest cards in a hole, just fold unless you are in a big blind and can see a flop for free.

• Ace + Low card, unsuited: This is a typical beginner’s mistake. Although you may win in some cases and a head-up would be a good hand, when played at a table of four, this cannot be played if you can see a raise right in front of you.

• Face card + low card, unsuited: This is also a common beginner’s mistake and can only help you lose the game very badly.
