Wearing tight clothes or wet bathing suits, unlike a yeast infection, has no influence on a bacterial infection. Really this is an internal problem.
Some things you can do to prevent getting bacterial infections would be to limit your sex partners, absolutely do not douche (this can actually cause infections), and make sure to finish any prescribed medication even if your bacterial infection symptoms go away.
