American Sign Language (ASL) is a manual language, used by the deaf community throughout North America,and other select countries. American Sign Language is the 4th most popular language that is used throughout the world. American Sign Language is a way for people who cannot hear, to communicate their ideas, thoughts, and feelings. Learning sign language without learning American Sign Language grammar will not benefit you in the least. You need to be familiar with the grammatical structure of sign language. Lastly, a good sign language program online should have a way for you to practice fingerspelling, numbers, and other receptive skills. Learning to fingerspell is one of the most important skills you can develop while learning how to sign. Learning how to sign online gives one the most flexibility, less stress, and the convenience of learning at one’s own pace.
WHY LEARN AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE?
Learning American Sign Language allows you to communicate with those who cannot hear. Some people learn how to sign out of necessity to communicate with family or friends; others learn to become an interpreter, while others learn for fun. All of these reasons are good.
