The second PGA tournament of the year kicks off on Thursday January 13th at the Waialae Country Club in Hawaii which is the 2011 Sony Open. This should be an exciting golf tournament partly because the Waialae golf course has some of the toughest fairways in all of golf. The course is not designed for the long ball hitters to go all out hitting long drives. There are too many hazards along with notorious thick rough that will prove devastating to players. The players that will be able to control their shots will fair the best.

The other difficulty that we cannot forget is the wind. It will present it's own challenges for the players.
