Your New Year's Resolution might be to invest in a bathroom remodel Old bathrooms can have worn-out fixtures and plumbing, and over time these systems eventually no longer function as well as they should. It makes sense, if you wish to bring your bathroom remodeling project in at your budget, to do some pre-planning of all the features that you would like in the bathroom. You will probably also want to give the room a new interior design aesthetic, and one dramatic way to achieve that is with a tub to shower conversion. A bathtub to shower conversion will give your bath a more user-friendly means for getting ready in the morning, and will provide the room with a fresh look as well.
When you start your project to convert tub to shower in the bathroom, you will want to spend some time looking at bathtub replacement shower pans. Bathtub replacement shower pans are one of the key components that your construction team will use to help keep the water inside the shower stall area.
Another feature that works in conjunction with the shower pan in your tub replacement shower is the type of floor drain you select. In a traditional construction, a round floor drain is often used. This drain also requires a round slope built around the drain in order for the water in the shower to be directed toward the drain. A linear drain, on the other hand, is in the shape of a narrow long rectangle, and because of its flat shape, it requires only one slope to be built to guide the water through gravity toward the drain.
You may want to consider a linear floor drain over a round drain for several reasons in your shower conversion. If you use a linear drain in your tub replacement shower project, you can place the drain at the entrance of the shower stall. This type of drain placement in a tub to shower conversion allows you to create a wet room shower, for example. This shower is completely flush with the surrounding floor in the room, giving a wide-open feel to the bathroom. The linear drains are used to stop the flow of water from the shower conversion out into the rest of the bathroom. In addition, the linear drain helps your tub to shower conversion to become one that is wheelchair accessible, because there are no barriers at the entrance to the shower. When you convert tub to shower, the linear drain also allows you to use larger pieces of tile, marble or stone inside the shower stall, which cannot be done with round floor drains, and thus you have more design options. Finally, a tub replacement shower project that uses a linear drain costs less to install than a round floor drain, due to lowered installation costs because less time is needed to seat the linear drain when compared with the round drain.
