So...you are in need of a chicken coop/hutch but you don't want to spend the money it requires to hire someone to do it for you? Good idea. I've been there too. I screwed up though and had to start over. I learned my lesson and took the smart road of doing it the second time around. I did research - find out the DO's and DONT's and apply them.

Here what I learned on how to build a chicken hutch.

The very first thing to plan out, is the location. You need to make sure that it is a flat area. Also, there shouldn't be any trees nearby. There is the possibility that they can fall down on the chicken hutch and destroy your hard work. The trees can be also be used as a way for other animals to climb on and get in the chicken coop through the windows and attack your birds.

Second thing to consider is size. How many chickens you have? How big are they? How much room do you want to give them? etc... The size also depends on what kind of business you are involved with. If you are in the chicken raising industry, then you should consider building a two floor chicken hutch since your number of chickens will grow over time

Now, you are ready to gather your materials. You'll need to find yourself a saw, hammer, nails, screws, fencing and such. Everything should be listed in your chicken coop or a hutch plan. Like I said before, the ground on which you plan on having this project on needs to be flat. If it's not, you might need to rent a bulldozer to get the job done.
