Although poker has been considered to be a men's game for generations, it is foolish to assume that women do not pose a threat at a poker table. In fact, women have a considerable advantage over men at poker games, and the only reason we do not hear of them too often is because there simply aren't too many poker girls in the field. If there were more, you can bet that the outcome would be different.

First, women do a much better job at controlling their own ego. While men often view poker as something that defines their own value and self-esteem, poker girls approach the game with a much more open mind and a true thirst for learning and becoming better. Women are quite competitive, contrary to what most people believe, and this competitiveness is at it's best when fame (and money) are involved.

Second, men tend to go easy on women when they play against them. They are much less likely to bluff them, generally folding when they don't have a hand. This must be psychological - men have an instinct for caring for women, and this makes them less likely to want to "hurt" them. It's definitely good to be a poker girl.

Third, if a poker girl is attractive, when she is playing in a casino, the men will tend to get distracted by her beauty. This makes their minds (and eyes) wander to different places and they will some times start to lose their concentration and stop paying attention to what is going on at the poker table. This also puts the women at a considerable advantage, giving them more edge.

And finally, women aren't as easily intimidated as men are. In general, they are more brave than most men when it comes to psychological issues. I'm not talking about the "fight the dragon" kind of bravery. More the "let's try out some new stuff and see how it happens, it could be interesting" type. They love to explore, and this makes them good learners.

So whenever you find yourself playing at a poker table and you see any girl looking something like Melanie Iglesias or any other poker woman, be sure to never underestimate her. Keep your eyes at your cards and imagine as if she were a fat, bald, 50 year old male accountant. Pay no attention to what she says and no attention to her cute large eyes. You can do that outside of the casino, but at the poker table - this will cost you tons of money.
