While Burton Albion may be the primary sporting team in the area, the Burton & District Cricket League boasts many club members including Burton Cricket Club, which was originally established back in 1823. There are a few good teams in the region and cricket in Burton on Trent is as popular as ever in 2010.

Burton on Trent cricket is popular with locals and visitors to the region and Burton Cricket Club is one of the teams in the area. Rolleston Cricket Club is another popular club in the region as are Dunstall, Ticknall, Swarkestone, Trentside, Hilton, Tutbury and Lullington Park. All of these teams vary in size and professionalism but all are equally measured in their passion for the game. Many of these smaller clubs play their games at local cricket clubs and parking is usually available at the clubs or close by.
Burton on Trent is a lovely part of the country and while famous for its national parklands and football club, cricket is a big sport here and many play and watch games every week during the season. The local clubs often do more than their fair share for charities and with the so-called Movember in full swing, many clubs are raising awareness for cancer by growing outlandish moustaches.
Most of the local clubs also boast small shops in which fans can purchase everything from tickets through to club merchandise. Junior cricket is popular with many of the schools in Burton on Trent and getting involved in the coaching side of the game can be done through contacting any of the clubs for further details. So, whether you want to watch from the sidelines or take a more active role in Staffordshire cricket, there are plenty of ways to get more involved.
