Improve My Golf – 5 Goals

You are not a professional golfer; nevertheless, you love this game as a hobby. At the same time you want to be a good player and you know what it takes to accomplish this end. Our desire is to improve your golf game. You know you need additional golf instructions and practice.

Practice is number one along with working with a professional golf instructor. What are your goals? Playing golf every weekend is not a goal; this is too general and you may not accomplish being a good golf player.

Take time to list your goals. At the top of a sheet of paper place title "How to Improve My Golf". This list may become quite long. After completing your list, narrow your choices to immediate priorities. Review your priorities and limit to realistic goals.

Your goals list may look like this:

  1. Work with a professional golf instructor

  2. Practice at the driving range

  3. Shoot low 80’s consistently

  4. Improve consistency

  5. Master one golf swing.

You may be thinking that there are not enough hours in a day to take care of work and home responsibilities. In truth, there are not enough hours in a day, because when you love your hobby it seems that everything else demands more time and attention, Oh, how many of us wish, we cold play golf all day and forget everything else.

You can solve your time demands by including golf in your lifestyle and to not feel cheated of your hobby. We all need leisure time to recharge our batteries.

How to accomplish your goals:

Work with a professional golf instructor. Take lessons once or twice a month.

Practice at the driving range. Arrange for an hour twice a week or for a couple of hours once a week.

Improve consistency. Practice attentively. Practice as though you are playing golf because when you practice on the driving range it is exactly what you will do when playing golf with others.

Master one golf swing. Take whatever time and effort is needed to correctly learn and practice one swing until you feel that you have mastered it. Then add another golf swing, and another. As you master your golf swings develop your consistency.

Take one step at a time and before you know it you have walked a mile, accomplished much, and on your way to becoming your personal best.
