What are Human Resource Management Solutions?

Traditional HR systems consist of large amounts of manual workload. To reduce the workload and make the process more efficient, organizations have electronically automated many of the processes involved in HR, by introducing specialized HRM solutions. HRM solutions refer to the relationship between information technology and human resource management. It is basically a software application that combines many HR functions including benefits administration, payroll, recruiting and training, and performance analysis and review into one package. By having a specialized IT solution in place for all your HR needs, this process becomes easier, faster, accurate, less tedious, and highly efficient. This reduces the workload of the HR department as well as increases the efficiency of the department by standardizing HR processes.

Some of the more common HRM solutions include Payroll Management, Time and Attendance Management and Employee Self Service Portal systems.

Payroll Management

This automates the payment process by gathering data on employee time and attendance, calculating tax deductions, and generating pay cheques and employee tax reports. Other standard features included in most payroll management systems include bulk data entry facilities, data migration from other payroll solutions if necessary, pay schedules, processing, error check facilities, gratuity payable maintenance, remittance to third parties and integrity checks. The generation of reports is also a key feature of the payroll management system in HRM solutions – examples of these reports include accounting, audit, statutory, EPF/ETF, PAYE and management reports.

Time and Attendance Management

This aspect of HRM solutions gathers standardized time and work related efforts. Basically, this solution keeps track of all employee related activities such as Time In and Out, Hours worked and Absenteeism to name a few. The generation of reports such as daily attendance, daily overtime, late comers information, and leave distribution reports are also a key feature of the time and attendance management solution.

Employee Self Service Portal

The Employee Self Service portal enables employees to inquire about HR related data and perform certain HR transactions over the system on their own, without asking information from managers and HR personnel. This means that HR departments will have more time to focus on more strategic aspects of HRM, rather than on operational activities.
