With regards to working out in the home we're always searching for that one piece of killer equipment which will help us obtain the body of our dreams preferably without needing to do any work! Sadly this kind of piece of exercise equipment doesn't exist and it probably never will but some come pretty close apart from the not having to do any work that is.

One of the latest is called the Step360 and surprisingly enough is actually a step but not any kind of step you might have seen before. A normal step is a solid rectangle which you step-up and down on whereas the Step360 is round and wobbles! It resembles two donuts stacked one on top of the other with the bottom donut being bigger than the top one.

These donuts are inflatable rings that can be fairly firm of soft based on how challenging you would like the workout to become. For a beginner fully inflating the chambers provides the Step360 rigidity and it behaves very much like a traditional step. However let some of the air out and the Step360 becomes an unstable platform (wobbly) on which to workout.

Being unstable means each time you step up onto the Step360 more muscles will need to work to keep you from falling off. This means not only will you use-up more calories but your stabilising muscles including your core get worked much harder than stepping up and down on a traditional step.

To get the maximum benefit from any workout we know we ought to combine aerobic exercise with muscle building and in that way we can use-up more calories and therefore lose more fat. The Step360 comes with a set of exercise bands that can be quickly placed under the rim of the Step making it possible to perform a number of exercises including Bicep Curls, Tricep Kickbacks, Lat Raises, upright rows and many more.

The Step360 can be turned inverted and a fit ball can be placed in the centre giving a novice to working out with a fit ball a more stable base to work with. You can also store the fit ball this way and it ensures the ball stays where you left it.

The Step360 will suit a complete novice or an experienced user. Because the difficulty can be increased by either speeding up the music like a normal step or which is unique to the Step360 the chambers can be partially deflated the more air you let out the more wobbly it becomes and the harder it gets. When starting out it's even possible to completely deflate the bottom chamber making the height of the step much lower ideal for a complete beginner.

I've had my Step360 for approximately 6 weeks now and love it to bits. It has added another dimension to my workouts keeping them fresh and fun. I've found that after a bit of practise you can use the Step360 at a regular step class or use any existing step DVD's you may have. The only downside or upside depending on how you look at it is that it makes the original step class much more challenging.
