If you have a brand new website you are likely thinking that you do not want to change anything about it. It looks modern and up to date and ideally will represent your business as it currently is. If, however, you have a website that is already several years old you may want to consider revamping and re-launching it. Here are a few reasons why.

Your company or its products are being rebranded

From time to time, a company will give their products a makeover. They may have a new look to their marketing materials. If the company’s website does not reflect this change it can make it difficult to use that website to attract new customers or retain them long-term. This is because there can be such a huge discrepancy between a company’s former and current image that a potential customer may not realize that the product and the website are connected.

As well, a company may be going in a different direction with their products and services. They may have added a new line of products or group of services and want to focus on them. They may also be focusing on different aspects of production such as moving towards more environmentally friendly techniques and processes. As a result, the old website may just not fit the corporate image.

Features and Web standards may have changed

A website can also be out of date because of changes to web standards. The company may also want to add new features or make it easier for customers to access the site’s information. You want to make sure that your site uses recent technology in order to make sure that it can load and function properly. By waiting for your site to crash instead of being proactive you may end up losing a lot more financially than it would have cost to have a site revamped.

Guidelines have been released that detail how sites need to address accessibility by individuals with certain disabilities. If your site does not measure up to these guidelines you may find that you will either lose out on revenue or be required to make these changes anyway. By making sure that you keep ahead of these mandated changes you will keep your website in good standing and continue to enjoy the returns that it can bring you.

Your website may need additional functionality

Your company may benefit from a website with increased or different functionality. By redeveloping your website you will end up being able to add new features or change the website so that it just works much more smoothly. Are you now selling products online in a virtual storefront? By redeveloping your site and bringing your storefront on board you can give your entire site a much more cohesive appearance. As a result you may find it easier to put your site to work for your company.

It can be difficult to determine whether a site needs to be revamped. By taking the time to look at yours you may determine what areas need to be improved and you can then move ahead with a definite goal in mind.
