The most common type of yeast infection is definitely vaginal yeast infection. It is true that most of the yeast infection patients are women but you have to know that it can be seen in men's also. The risk of you having vaginal yeast infection generally is the first time you start having sex. But there is no evidence that this infection is only caused by your partner. No one can assume that it is the only way to have this infection. But if you have yeast infection and you still keep having sex, there is a big chance that you will pass it to your partner.
The vagina naturally contains mucus and bacteria, which is balancing the body and protecting you from having any kind of infections like yeast infection. But when the balance is broken your natural defenses breaks down and you'll be open to infections. This changes in chemical can happen by becoming a lot more sexually active, taking birth control pills, taking antibiotics, by having a lower immune system, becoming pregnant, diabetes and a few more. Yeast infection is something you really need to take serious just because it can be an early sign for something bigger like HIV.
If you're treating your infection with the right cures but you still have yeast infection or it keeps coming back, no matter how hard you try, you might want to talk to your doctor and get a better idea about your situation. If you are on birth control pills you definitely don't want to stop taking those, but if you are on antibiotics you should consider taking them after you cure your vaginal yeast infection. Because it is proven that antibiotics can cause yeast infection.
