What are you going to be doing while your automatic factory ballast system is filling up?

Some people rush into adding fat sacs to their automatic factory ballast system using the same pumps and switches. We just want you to know that while that is convenient, it does take longer because your existing system has to fill up and then it has to fill the additional fat sacs.

What you could be doing (if you want to get riding sooner) is to use 2 Tsunami Pumps to plug into the cigarette lighter accessory plugs to fill your additional fat sacs manually at the same time you flicked the switches to fill your automatic factory ballast.

In about the same amount of time that it takes to fill your factory ballast system, you could have your additional fat sacs filled via the 2 Tsunami pumps.

And again… what would you be doing while you are waiting for your automatic factory ballast system to fill anyway?

Adding Fat Sacs To Your Automatic Factory Ballast System Using The Same Pumps And Switches That Came In The Boat

There are different ways to add fat sacs to an automatic factory ballast system using the same pumps and switches that came in the boat.

The main thing is: that for every 1 inch hose that you attach to the fat sac, you use a W743 1" gray fitting that you screw into the fat sacs with nothing but All-Purpose PVC Cement

and

either a W741 1" Straight Black fitting with the red ring OR a W746 1" Elbow Black fitting with the red ring (whatever allows the hose to most naturally attach to the fat sac without bending or kinking the hose).

The W741 or W746 goes on the end of the 1" hose (558031-hose) using a hose clamp (558031-clamp) and then it will clip onto the W743 1" gray fitting that you screwed into the fat sac with All-Purpose PVC cement. This is the most high tech durable leak proof hose connection on the planet for an automatic ballast system.

To unclip it, you simply pull the red ring back on the black fitting.

For every 3/4" hose that you attach to the fat sac, you do the same thing but use a W736 3/4" gray fitting and a W740 3/4" Straight Black Fitting with the red ring or a W742 3/4" Elbow black fitting with the red ring.

Quick Tips For Using The Tsunami Pump (part # W709)

The Tsunami Pump is the fastest pump that you put over the side of the boat and plug into the cigarette lighter accessory plug to manually fill and empty the fat sacs. It is made to go on and off the Pro X Series Fat Sacs very fast and easy to save time. The clear hose on the Tsunami Pump (W709) allows you to clearly see when the water is flowing well. It also allows you to see if there are any bubbles, weeds, sand, or dirt in it that are slowing the flow or are being pumped into your fat sac.

Step 1: First put the Tsunami pump over the side of the boat under the water.

Step 2: Then counter twist the end of the hose before sticking it in the quick connect with cap and chain on the top of the Pro X Series Fat Sac so it twists back and holds itself in the groove.

Step 3: Plug the Tsunami Pump into the cigarette lighter accessory plug.

NOTE: To empty do the same thing except the end of the hose goes over the side of the boat first and the pump goes on the quick connect with cap and chain on top of the Pro X Series Fat Sac. Then... after you plug the Tsunami Pump into the cigarette lighter accessory plug, push the pump down into the sac to prime the pump.

How to Hook Up an Automatic Ballast System.
The Best Possible Way is by Keeping it Basic!

Required parts for EACH Pro X Series Fat Sac you will need the following:

1 each of W610-P - Jabsco Metal Ballast Puppy Pump (high volume, self-priming, reversible) with Fill/Empty Switch

25 ft of 558031-Black Hose - 1" Black Reinforced Bilge Hose

2 each of W743 - 1" Quick Connect - Sac Valve Thread (use All-Purpose PVC Cement to screw this fitting into the Fat Sac)

2 each of W741 - Flow-Rite 1" Straight Quick Connect Socket

2 each of W746 - Flow-Rite 1" Elbow Quick Connect Socket

6 each of 558031-Clamp - 316 Stainless Steel Worm Drive Hose Clamp 5/16" - 1 1/2" Clamp Diameter Range

2 each of 1" Thru Hulls - One for the bottom of the boat for Filling/Emptying; One for Venting/Overflow

Adequate length of electrical wire to wire up the fill/empty switch and the Jabsco Metal Ballast Puppy Pump

Directions:

For each Pro X Series Fat Sac, you will need the following;

1. 1 x (W610-P) Jabsco Metal Ballast Puppy Pump with fill-empty switch.

2. about 25 feet (558031 - black hose) 1" black reinforced bilge hose

3. 2 x (W743)  1" Quick Connect - Sac Valve Thread - screw these into Pro X Series Fat Sac with all Purpose PVC Cement.

Note: By using "Nothing but All Purpose PVC Cement" on the threads of this fitting when you screw it into the fat sac, there is no way that it could every be pried or pulled out of the fat sac by either the pressing or by the rubbing against the sides of the compartment or the hose getting pulled on hard enough as the fat sac fills or empties. This applies to the fitting pictured above as well as to any fitting used in an automatic ballast system.

Why would this be possible?

Answer: If the black flat flange valve that is welded in the fat sac ever got heated to a high enough temperature (like in the rear compartments on the side of the engine or on a very hot day), it would be possible for the fitting to get pried or pulled out of the fat sac... BUT only if you did not use All Purpose PVC Cement.

The Other Reason to use Nothing But All purpose PVC Cement: If you ever did have to remove the fitting for some reason, then you can call us and we can tell you HOW to get it out.

4. 2 x (W741) Flow-Rite 1" Straight Quick Connect Socket

5. 2 x (W746) Flow-Rite 1" Elbow Quick Connect Socket

6. 6 x (558031-clamp) 316 stainless steel worm drive hose clamp 5/16"-1 1/2" clamp diameter range

7.  2 x 1" Thru Hulls One for the bottom of the boat to fill and empty through plus one for the vent/overflow

8. Adequate length of electrical wire to wire up the Jabsco Metal Ballast Puppy Pump

NOTE: It is CRITICAL to use 1" hose, 1" fittings, 1" Thru Hulls, etc...¨EVERYTHING needs to be 1" with the Jabsco Metal Ballast Puppy Pump when doing an automatic ballast system. This will allow your system to fill and empty faster than any other method without anything getting stressed.

Directions:

Step 1: Run 1" Black Reinforced Hose from the 1" Thru Hull Fitting in the bottom of the boat to one side of the Jabsco Pump.

Step 2: Run 1" Black Reinforced Hose from the other side of the Jabsco Pump to the bottom valve on the Pro X Series Fat Sac.

Step 3: Run 1" Black Reinforced Hose from the highest valve on the top of the Pro X Series Fat Sac to the 1" Thru Hull Fitting out the side of the boat.

NOTE: The vent overflow thru hull fitting needs to be higher then where the 1" Vent Hose is attached to the valve on the top of the Pro X Series Fat Sac (When Full). This is to prevent water from being blown out of the vent/overflow thru hull or a siphon from being started.
