Adrenaline runs high in the fast-paced world of medical urgentcare. After a patient is given a quick visual examination, other types of diagnostic images are often taken to come to or confirm a medical diagnosis. Emergency room doctors need the information that comes from the urgentcare x-ray systems that they have in place to be fast, accurate and affordable, in order to provide them with superb diagnostic medical images in a hurry.
Digital imaging often begins with an urgentcare DR image acquisition unit. Urgentcare DR systems provide you with the quickest throughput of any of the digital imagers on the medical market today, and they also offer the highest resolution qualities when compared to CR digital imagers.
After digital medical images are taken in perhaps a variety of modalities, it takes a common computer language so that the urgent care PACS system can read the data that the various digital imagers have produced. This format is DICOM, a specialized medical digital imaging format similar to the popular jpeg format.
An urgent care PACS shaves minutes if not days off the time needed for diagnoses because it allows you to send the digital diagnostic images you just took to consulting physicians that are attached to your medical network through a local-area, wide-area or virtual-private network connection. Consultations with specialist physicians located anywhere in the world with Internet access are now possible, giving your patients the best care possible at this critical time for them.
Viewing the digital images and making changes to them to help with diagnosis is not only possible but takes only a matter of seconds. Images taken from a CT or PET modality can be displayed together, quickly giving you diagnostic data along with the patient's anatomical data combined. Three-dimensional digital imaging is also possible, so that you can see and reconstruct cross sectional images in the planes that make the most sense for your diagnostic purposes.
Because your patients will usually leave urgent care and be transferred to another area of the hospital, your urgentcare x-ray system also will need the ability to not only send and receive digital DICOM images, but must have a methodical way of storing them as well for later access. Storage servers that can be accessed online make it quick and easy to retrieve your patients' files, as can everyone on your patients' medical teams, so that in seconds everyone is informed of the patients' conditions, and can act with speed to improve the care received.
