When you want to keep healthy, everyone understands how important it is to get enough Vitamin C. You have possibly been told over and over and again exactly how important Vitamin C is to your health. What's the first thing that you're told when you get a cold? "Eat something with Vitamin C!" Now, though, there has been some small bit of speculation regarding whether or not Vitamin C is actually beneficial in preventing the common cold.
You've possibly also been told about Echinacea. The main idea of Echinacea is that, if you take it when those first few cold symptoms begin to manifest, you will be able to make the cold stay away. In recent years, however, more and more studies have shown that Echinacea is not much more than a placebo effect for people suffering from the common cold. At best, the product will lower the length of the cold by 20 hours. It isn't a solution.
How can you keep the colds from getting the better of an individual? Here are a few suggestions which should assist you.
-
Keep the hands clean. Clean your hands plenty. This is perhaps the ideal and most efficient way to keep the common cold at a distance. How come this really is so effective? Think about it. The hands get in touch with cold and flu germs over any appendage or part of the body. Have you ever previously seriously considered everything you touch every day? Every time you touch a product or surface that has been touched by someone who is struggling with the flu or a cold, your chances of getting sick are increased. If you scrub your hands a great deal, you will be far less likely to let any of the germs that you have made contact with get into your system and grab hold.
-
Make sure that you get sufficient sleep. It can be really tempting, specifically when things tend to be tense, to stay up really late. You would like to get far more work done. You want to spend more time with pals. Perhaps you really would like to watch a show on television. All of these things reduce the amount of rest that you are able to get. Rest will help your body find the energy to drive back infections that want to hurt you. When you are sleeping and asleep your system has a chance to do maintenance and make repairs. The more rest you get, the easier it will be for your body to defend against infection and get rid of it before it really has a chance to latch on.
-
Remain hydrated. Your entire body needs a minimum of eight eight ounce glasses of drinking water every day to be healthy. Staying effectively hydrated is how one's body is able to flush the toxins out of your system. If you aren't correctly hydrated, germs just refuse to leave instead of getting flushed out. Don't forget: you can go at least seven days without eating solid food before you die. Without water, you will only last a day or two. That alone ought to remind everyone how crucial it is to stay hydrated.
The thing is: there is no magical cure for the common cold. All you have is your personal common sense and good preventative procedures like keeping clean, resting a lot and drinking a good amount of water.
