A ‘scholarship for student’ is nothing but a reward in form of financial help to pursue further studies at school level, graduation level, post-graduations level and for other higher education programs. In almost, every country government and different private organizations and trusts offer Scholarships for Students to encourage them to continue their studies. Besides the local government, there are various universities and colleges, which offer International Scholarships to students for higher studies.
Education Scholarships Programs play a vital role in carving students’ professional careers by enabling them to keep their studies continue. In country like India, where many students can’t pursue desired courses due to financial issue, Scholarships Program is a boon.
The Government of India, through the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Atomic Energy provide students with different College Scholarships and School Scholarships. Further, there are universities such as Gayatri College of Biomedical Science, Dehradun, UK and Srinagar Garhwal (Central University), which conduct Education Scholarships Programs for those, who want to pursue PhD in any discipline.
Apart from this, NIIT - Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarship, ITC Overseas Scholarships, Joint CSIR- UGC Test for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lectureship, HCL CDC-Yuva Pratibha Scholarship, NATIONAL TALENT SEARCH SCHEME, JN Tata Endowment Scholarship Program, Tata Institute of Social Sciences – Scholarships, Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search and Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) are other well known College Scholarships and School Scholarships in the country.
Selection of students for different scholarships is commonly done on following basis:
Merit: Students, who are brilliant in any area, need to be promoted for higher studies. Government and University Scholarships Programs select such students and help them financially to study the desired subject in highly renowned institutes in country and abroad.
Scholarships for Financially Poor Students: Scholarships programs also recognize financially poor students and help them to continue their studies.
Career Specific Scholarships: Some sectors such as nursing, atomic research, coast guard jobs, and different welfare programs of government, which need professional to work with. Government offer scholarships for students, who wish to work for such sectors that don’t usually attract students.
