Keeping your van on the road can be a costly exercise, and a lot of people often give up on their motor. People will find that the cost of their new MOT is hiked by the repair costs necessary, and on occasions, this can mean paying more to have the car fixed than it is worth. In this situation a lot of people are quick to find the easiest solution, which often involves handing over cash to a company who will collect your van for you, but you should perhaps be less hasty. There are companies out there who will give you decent cash for the collection of your vehicle!
It doesn't matter what state your van is in, there is always someone who will pay to collect it. Although there are many more companies out there who are asking for money to tow your van, you have to take the time to find the ones who will pay you! Scrap metal is worth a lot these days, so by rights there is value in what you own. Make sure someone pays what it is worth.
Of course, saying this and doing this are two entirely different things, and of course the one thing you have to do is to find the companies that will pay, and it isn't always easy. Remember that searching for this sort of company offline is going to restrict your results. You should be searching online for van disposal and with any luck you will find a company who pays to do this. You should be trying to find a company that not only recycles the goods taken but also reconditions. This way there is more likelihood that they will be interested in your vehicle. In a sense this gives them two bites at the cherry, which means that they will see more potential value in your van. You only have to consider that if a scrap merchant takes the working parts out of your vehicle, sells them on and then scraps the rest and sells the scrap metal, they are going to make a decent sum of money. This is why they are willing to give you a cut. Remember though, if you are searching online you will be getting results for companies all over the country. Some will collect from anywhere, and some will not.
You also have to watch out for companies who appear to be listed as buyers, but who in actual fact remove any payment through their collection charges. The last thing you want is someone turning up to tow away your vehicle to who is offering you £100 for your van and is asking for £100 to tow it away! You shouldn't have to put up with this sort of thing, so make sure you find out beforehand exactly what the situation is with their towing charges.
Having said all this, there's nothing wrong with just biting the bullet and spending a bit of money on your van and saving it from the clutches of the scrap heap, but if you do this you are only setting yourself up for another fall in twelve months time. It is perhaps best to say goodbye now, and move on to something much better!
