There are four key things to consider when preparing for a bathroom remodeling project. By following these steps, the remodeling project will likely be finished on time and on budget.
-
When the household is aware that a bathroom remodeling is coming up, it is first important to decide which bathroom is going to see the changes. For homes with two or three bathrooms, if not more, choosing can be a little difficult, especially if they could all use a makeover. If stumped, it is in the homeowner's best interest to choose one that is used the most and thus has the most wear and tear. For homes with one bathroom, the choice can be obvious; however, with only one bathroom, it is also vital to plan what to do while the bathroom is unusable. This may even be the time to add another one as part of a discount home improvement project.
-
If not already determined, remodeling goals should be established before the contractors come in to get to work. What are the household's storage needs? Do extra places to put things need to be installed in order to cater to this? Is there a certain color scheme that is most desired? Some people choose to check bathroom showrooms to get ideas and learn what would not work. They can see what is currently fashionable and what would work best for the home and its space. If visiting a physical store is not possible, there are many websites online that can provide images to look over. Another option is to choose a design build contractor to get a better idea of what it will look like.
-
Shortly before the bathroom remodeling is to start, the homeowner and anybody living in the house should wean themselves off of using that specific room. This is only possible, however, if there are several of them and at least one of the free ones has a shower or tub of some kind. If the one being occupied for remodeling is the only one that provides a way to bathe, the household should consider staying with a friend or family member for the duration. This ensures the stress with the situation will be lowered.
-
Remodeling projects can be slowed down or halted for many reasons, but failure to clean out the bathroom before workers arrive is one that is vital to tackle. Before anybody arrives, the people who use the bathroom should clear out any and all personal belongings. If somebody has a lot of makeup in a drawer, that should be taken out. If the medicine cabinet is full of prescriptions and personal items, it should be stored elsewhere. Remodeling will prove to be a lot quicker, and with fewer interruptions, if the homeowner does not have to walk in and take everything out as the workers are trying to get things done.
