  3. Make sure you don’t get constipation as it can make the coccyx pain a lot worse. In order to avoid constipation drink lots of water and eat fiber rich fruits and vegetables.

  4. If you feel that the tailbone pain is getting worse you can take pain killers like Ibuprofen or in case of extreme pain after some fall, injections containing small amounts of local anesthetic are also given by orthopedic doctors. These injections can be effective as they reduce or eliminate the pain caused by the inflammation of the muscles around the coccyx due to the fall. And usually the inflammation reduces before the effect of these injections wears off and therefore, the patient feels reduced tailbone pain.

  5. The last option, if no other treatment works out is the surgical removal of the coccyx. The doctors suggest it only when the coccyx pain becomes chronic and no other treatment seems effective even after many attempts. In this surgery the coccyx is completely removed and as it doesn’t actually have any function in our body its removal doesn’t affect us in any way.
