These are not rules or regulations that are set by the authorities to limit your fun or enjoyment. Instead, these are rules that you should set for your own good and for maximising the fun and enjoyment you can have at a campsite. It's about the experience. Each of these rules will help you do things the right way without getting into any sort of trouble – they are a guideline based on common sense.

  1. Check the Local Rules

You must understand that caravan sites have their own set of rules. It is prudent to learn about the regulations, if any, at a campsite before arriving there. Knowing the regulations like timings, number of people permitted, the need for written permissions, pets etc. will help you plan a great UK holiday camping trip. The first rule is to never miss reading the rules of a particular campsite if you are headed there. For all you know, it could be a protected area, where you need prior permission to camp.

  1. Always Use Biodegradable Products

If you are heading out to the wilderness, woods, the banks of a river or a lake, do not use non-biodegradable materials and worse still, do not throw them around. "Leave only footprints, take only memories."

  1. Avoid Inflammable Materials as Much as Possible

A lot of campsites actually have stern rules around this. You might not even be allowed to carry gasoline or camping fuel which could start fires that you cannot control. The last thing you want is to burn down the woods and the animals living within.

  1. Do Not Disturb

If you have heard about the adage, live and let live, this is the right time to follow it. If you are spending your holiday in the UK, it doesn’t mean others have to make sacrifices. Keep down your music decibel levels; avoid using noisy bikes or jeeps in places where there are no tracks and keep the overall volumes low if you are in a registered campsite. If there are others, do not disturb them and maintain a safe distance to give them privacy.

  1. Be Safe

A campsite often brings out the adventurous streak in a person. But make sure your UK holiday doesn’t end up in a disaster. Whether it is jumping into the lake for a midnight swim or rock climbing, make sure you are not risking too much and you are always safe and together. In fact, avoid doing things on a campsite that you have never tried before.

  1. Do Your Homework

If you are going to a particular campsite in UK, make sure you know about the possible problems and the feedback of other people on forums, information directories and booking engines like CampingNinja. This will help you prepare better and carry the right equipment with you at all times.

  1. Public Behaviour

Make sure you enjoy your camping trip and if you can manage, avoid too much intoxication (you know what we mean). Shouting, fighting or exploration in the woods on your own could land you into serious and sometimes fatal trouble. Your public behaviour especially at sites where there are others should be acceptable. This also involves sticking to all the rules of a registered site.
