When it comes to growing orchids, particularly inside our house, we can discover a very exceptional species called Paphiopedilum. Paphiopedilum orchids, also known as paph orchids, are a very good option to adorn, beautify and brighten up our home.
In truth, paphiopedilums prosper in an ambience with temperate humidity level (around 50 or 60 percent) and also in moderate temperatures ranging from 13 to 29 degrees Celsius.
What makes paphiopedilum orchids different compared to other orchid kinds is that paph orchids can flourish and bloom in inside places where there is only fluorescent light. They may, of course, receive solar natural light but, in that case, it is advisable to set them near the southern or eastern window of our apartment since this kind of orchid prefers low lights rather than the direct rays of the sun. This may change depending on the sub-species of our paphiopedilum orchids; so let us do not forget to ask our orchid supplier about the exact genus and specimen of our paph orchid.
Another characteristic of paph orchids is that they demand more watering than other orchid species. Indeed, they must be watered as frequently as several times a week. Nevertheless, they do not like to be drenched with water. Misting is the watering method they prefer. Therefore, the best way to grow our paphiopedilum orchids is by using a spray with which we will keep them slightly wet and happy. This particular is very important for our paph orchids since over watering them could cause fungal maladies.
Finally, I must make it clear that there are different paphiopedilum varieties. For instance, the variety with mottled-looking leaves is an exception to the pointed guidelines. This particular variety does love more light and can receive very willingly the direct rays of the sun. So, we must find out which specific paphiopedilum orchid we have at home, in order to care for it properly. If we take all this into account, the beautiful blooms of our paph orchid will linger for a long time.
