We've all had "that day" when your boxer puppy starts barking and barking nonstop. It seems no matter what we do the puppy just won't stop barking! If that sounds like you then you're absolutely not alone. There are good (and bad) reasons for your pup to be doing that and this article will teach you exactly what the 5 main causes of that are, and how to stop it.
Reason 1 Boredom - Yes, I know right? I never thought that dogs got bored! But yes, boxer dogs could be barking simply because they're bored. The fix for this one is pretty simple: give your puppy lots of toys and exercise to make sure that he stays mentally and physically stimulated at all times so that he doesn't have excess energy to bark around.
Reason 2 Hunger - Although this is not likely, your dog will bark because he or she is hungry. So make sure you feed your puppy every day at the same times to eliminate the possibility that our puppy is simply asking for food.
Reason 3 Attention - Humans are not the only ones that like affection and attention - dogs are very needy when it comes to companionship! If you (and no one else) spends enough time with your puppy then he or she may bark because at some point barking got your attention and he will continue to bark until he's satisfied. To fix this - whenever your boxer is barking simply ignore him. I know that this may sound harsh but it's for the best. You need to show your boxer puppy that you will not come running every time he barks otherwise your pup will abuse his powers and bark all the time. Keep in mind that you shouldn't deprive your dog from affection. Give your puppy affection and attention just make sure that it's on your terms not his.
Reason 4 Pain - Yet another reason your puppy could be barking is because he or she is experiencing some level of pain, whether it be external or internal. Examine your dog's skin for lice or rashes and make sure he or she doesn't have an upset stomach. Lastly, take your dog to the vet if the barking began suddenly without build up. It could potentially be caused by a health problem that needs to be addressed.
Reason 5 Separation Anxiety - Often times owners leave the house only to find their dog barking all day from severe separation anxiety. To solve this problem get someone to dog sit your puppy or get another dog so that your puppy keeps entertained. Leave the TV on, provide lots of toys, and don't have affectionate goodbyes as dogs can easily pick up on human emotion. When you're affectionately saying goodbye and leaving your puppy senses trouble. When you leave somewhere make it abrupt and a simple "bye" should do it.
