Having a baby will certainly change anyone's life. Critical changes must be undertaken to ensure a child's safety and well being. Potential safety risks increase as the baby starts to become mobile. He will learn to crawl, run, push and pull things, and put anything into his mouth. Therefore, significant changes at home must be done to guarantee the safety of the child. Examine each room inside the house and make sure to avert possible safety hazards.
Check each room for the presence of sharp objects, edges or corners. They should be removed or cushioned, especially when the baby starts to crawl and walk. Tables, cabinets, windows, stairs, home decorations and other household items in each room should be inspected to eliminate possible injuries they may cause a child.
Lots of cases of injury and even death are fall related. Expect higher risks of babies and toddlers falling as they develop their motor skills and because of their curiosity. Injuries acquired because of falling, mostly happen in stairways. Installing safety gates on the stairways will greatly help prevent a child from falling
Before a baby is about to start to crawling and learn to put things in their mouth, it is very important to keep away from a child's reach all the possible choking and ingestion hazards. Small objects and home decorations, breakable glass, medicines, cleaning products and other chemicals must not be accessible by a child. Once they put those items in their mouth they will certainly cause serious injury. Never let it happen to your child. Keep things up high in areas that are impossible for a child to reach or store in a cabinet with safety locks or latches.
Other areas at home that are high risks are the kitchen, windows, and electrical outlets. Install stove guards in the kitchen to prevent a child from playing with the stoves and turning on the gas. Knives and other objects must also be kept out of reach. Unused electrical outlets must have safety outlet covers on and as much as possible, keep electrical cords out of a child's sight. You should also give a high regard to installing window guards. The shade cords should also remain unreachable.
Any accident or injury can happen in just a brief moment when you take your eyes off your child. Give yourself peace of mind and let your child explore and play inside the house safely by keeping your home safe and secure.
