Naming your beagle puppy is a fun and exciting activity. But from so many names to choose from, which name is the best for a beagle? Ultimately, there is no best single pupname for your dog. There are tons of them that are popular and often times people go for the popular one not to be left with a name that people may not like. Besides, it's not like a popular one could be a bad one right? This article will tackle your problem of naming your beagle puppy. There are some aspects that you need to think about before you come up with something that you may end up regretting later.
First and foremost you need to make sure that whatever you decide to call your puppy is going to be acceptable by everyone around you within the next 10 years. If you don't think you'd be comfortable calling out to your puppy 7 years from now in the public then you should probably reconsider what you're going to call your dog. Many owners give their canine friend a pretty unethical name only to regret it later when they need to recall their dog in public that's run off his ways. This is why it's important to think about what you're going to call your pup in the next 10 years in various circumstances around various people and in different locations.
Calling your puppy a long name could be bad for learning. Genuinely, whatever you call your pup should not be longer than 2 syllables. This is to make sure that your puppy can respond to you more quickly than he or she would with a much longer name, say 3-5 syllables. It has been proven that shorter names make training easier so keep that in mind before you call your dog "The Denominator" or "Energebetics". Short simple names have been proven to work nicely for all breeds of dogs including our precious beagle. So if you were thinking of calling your dog something a few words short of a paragraph you might want to change your mind on that one.
While calling your puppy something short is great you also have to keep in mind that you should avoid calling your puppy anything that rhymes with negative words or commands. For example, "Sid" and "Sit", "Moe" and "No". Your puppy could get confused and think that you're being "negative" towards the puppy when all you're doing is calling his name. To avoid such confusion be sure to only call your puppy a name that won't be confused with another word. Get more beagle training tips and naming advice.
