Keeping Your Centennial Real Estate Safe And Secure From Burglary

Centennial has been the tagged as the 'Safest City in Colorado' for six years in a row. With a population of more than 75,000 residents the City is ranked 23rd out of the 400 safest cities nationwide. This makes Centennial homes for sale owners feel a sense of security since there is no better measure of the quality of life for residents than having a safe environment.
However, the city's residents should not be confident in making their things safe from burglars. It doesn't matter if you are live in a good community or a bad one. The good neighborhoods and even the mid class ones get attempted as well because a lot of burglars feel there's more to gain from robbing them. In the US alone, a housebreaking happens at least once in every 8 seconds. Thieves take about 8-12 minutes in the house, looking for items that can be sold like electronics, money and jewellery.
It's comforting to know though that most of the burglars are not professional crooks and can be baffled with a few basic measures observed at home. Most of them also don't want to go specifically at your home; they just want to get into anybody's home. So the trick becomes making your home less alluring (let's say more difficult to get into) than someone else's home.
Neighborhood Watch. The Neighborhood Watch Program is one of the most competent and inexpensive ways to avoid crime and decrease fear. This program is where the neighbors are watching amongst themselves, having the additional eyes and ears for disclosing crime and aiding the police and other law enforcement. Neighbors who are members of the program also be trained how to make their homes more safe, look out for each other and account activities that can raise suspicions to the Sheriff's office. Deputies of Centennial can also talk and provide lectures with the watch group members about community policing, crime prevention tips and/or the program itself. The Program can also be an avenue for the members to meet with their neighbors and establish rapport.
Exterior Lighting. Bright illumination near or outside the home's entrances or exits will make the criminals hesitant from getting inside your home. The City of Centennial in association with Xcel Energy and Intermountain Rural Electric Association (IREA) are doing these street light services. Meanwhile, requests for additional street lighting can be done for installations on public right of ways provided that there is enough funding for the requests to complete. Requests should be forwarded to the Centennial Public Works Office to go through and facilitate the process.
Locks and Doors. The most definite way to gain access through homes is through entrance doors. With a simple hard and fast kick on such door whether at the front or back can drive the door right out of its frame and the crook can just get in and help himself. Typical doors of most houses are only furnished with simple mechanisms and spring latch locks that is ineffortly sliding into the casing around the door. These kinds of locks should be improved by detaching what's there and replacing them with dead bolt locks. You can even install double dead bolts locks (that need a key to be unlocked from the inside) for additional security.
Dogs. Dogs can restrain a thief from entering into your home since they create loud warning noises and barks if unfamiliar people gains access to their jurisdiction. These barks can scare burglars off. Just make sure that the dogs are well taken care of and fed them properly. If you don't have a dog, you can use a sign that says "Beware of Dog" which can discourage any burglar to gain entry into your home.
