Here are the Top 10 Questions & Answers why women are undergoing more often prenuptial cosmetic surgery at Ocean Clinic in Marbella with Dr. Kai O. Kaye.

  1. What are the most popular wedding-related treatments you have been asked to perform?

Minimal or non invasive procedures like Botox-Treatments for expression lines, Hyaluronic acid to treat deeper wrinkles or to give more volume to the lips, light peelings for skin irregularities, but as well liposculpturing to enhance the silhouette for a gorgeous wedding dress or blepharoplasty (eye-lid lift) to enhance the shape of the eyes and to take away a tired look.

  1. How do you think cosmetic surgery can help a bride where make-up and a nice hairstyle cannot?

Cosmetic surgery can correct imperfections or asymmetries make up can’t cover, and it can work as well on the general appearance of the body, giving the bride a body-contour which allows for larger choice of dresses which enhance her body, not hiding it.

  1. Do some women use the fact that they are getting married as an incentive to have a cosmetic procedure done that perhaps has always bothered them?

Yes, they do indeed, and they often bring their future husband to approve (and to pay ;-).

  1. Do you or have you ever advised a woman against cosmetic surgery for her wedding day?

Yes, in some cases because they simply did not need anything, in other cases because there was not enough time to ensure a complete healing or disappearance of bruising.

  1. What is the most successful procedure for a bride to be that you have done?

I corrected a big asymmetry of her upper eye lids which she had since birth, and afterwards she did send me photos from her wedding with close-up shots of a pair of beautiful eyes full of happiness.

  1. Do you use any new or cutting edge techniques?

We always thrive to stay up-to-date with the new techniques; I for myself go to many international meetings and congresses in the course of one year, so I can insure that my patients can enjoy the best treatment available. New treatments include the wide field of fat transfer to enhance volume in face or the body, minimal scar procedures, new tissue glues for a better and quicker healing etc.

  1. How long before a wedding day would you recommend that a woman started the process for cosmetic surgery?

If the treatment is surgical, it should be carried out at least 3 months before the wedding to make sure that the healing process does not interfere with the preparations/rehearsals and that the final result is visible. In the case of minimal invasive treatments like Botox or facial wrinkle treatments with hyaluronic acid, minimum 10-14 days before so that any eventual occurring swelling or bruising is gone.

  1. Have you seen a trend in the type or number of people now looking for cosmetic surgery? How much of it is wedding related?

Aesthetic surgery is a steadily growing field; more and more people are interested and are really looking into various procedures to enhance their outcome. A before-wedding consultation with a Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon becomes more and more a subject brides-to-be talk about with the same normality as the hair stylist and make-up artists they already talked about.

  1. Is cosmetic surgery only for rich women?

Cosmetic surgery has become more and more accessible in our days; it is definitely no longer a domain only for rich women.

  1. What top tips would you give to a woman thinking about having cosmetic surgery for her wedding day or in general?

First, stay natural, don’t overdo it, just enhance your own beauty to the point that it shines on your great day. Second, take enough time before the wedding instead of seeing doctors and rush the treatment. In general anybody who wants to undergo this kind of treatments must feel totally confident with themselves and with their treating doctor. Never do anything because you feel under pressure or feel obligated to fit into a pattern.
