Not too long ago, I would just laze around the house all day while my children were at school and just watch television and eat like crazy just to pass the time. This was a typical day for a stay at home mom like me. I soon realized that I had become so out of shape that it became a struggle just to walk up a flight of stairs. This was the turning point for me. I decided to change my lifestyle and become healthier.

There is a lot of movement involved with aerobic exercises, since it was initially intended for boosting oxygen intake for the body. Even though these are moderate intensity workouts done over an extended period of time, there are numerous benefits.

The Step exercise- here is a very effective workout that requires a step or something that is elevated off the floor and some upbeat music. First put your right leg on the step than follow it with your left leg than return to your starting position. Now do this around 20 to 30 times on each leg.

Jump Rope or Skipping – here is another great aerobic workout that requires only a jump rope. It is one that would definitely take you back to your younger days. This is an exercise that works your whole body.

Cycling- if you do not have an actual bike, a stationary bike will do the trick. This is an exercise that you could do while you’re watching your favorite television show.

Running on a Treadmill – just like cycling, you can do this in the comforts of your living room while watching television. Nothing beats a good run.

Aerobic workouts not only will help you stay fit and healthy, they also help you tone your body and lose that excess fat. Maintain a proper diet while you workout for the best results. If you are not comfortable going to a gym, do aerobic exercise at home.
