Buying a new conservatory, can be as complex and emotional as buying a new house or a new car, there so many factors to consider, and the choice of conservatories available is vast.

So where do you start?

The first port of call for many people’s research now is the internet, you can find a number of websites selling conservatories but you can also find a number of useful buying guides.

The most important question to ask yourself before beginning your research is ‘What will the Conservatory be used for?’ Will it be used for a kitchen extension, to achieve that open plan living you’ve been dreaming of, or will it be an entirely separate room to the house where you can retreat to as your own sanctuary. Straight away this will probably answer a number of the questions on your list, such as; the size of the conservatory and the location.

Where to get inspiration for the style of your Conservatory? Again the internet gives you easy access to a number of websites where you will find most suppliers with Galleries of their portfolio, offering inspiration to help you decide on the style, material and colour for your own project. Any high street book shop or supermarket, will probably be armed with house and home magazines that can also offer inspiration.

Cost is an easy way of comparing companies, but make sure you are comparing like for like. Do all of the companies you have met with, offer the same service, quality of material and guarantees? The best way to compare is to get as many quotes as you can and to make sure the company visit you in your home and that you feel they have fully interpreted your brief. You should also make sure that with your chosen company they are not just the middle men and that it is in fact them who manufacture and install your conservatory.

With the Summer months fast approaching, now is a great time to begin your search. Enliven yourself with the thought of a beautiful conservatory, possibly bespoke to you, transforming your home and lifestyle.
