Sara, Yes, the plant (leaves, branch,stem) is always listed as toxic for cats AND dogs. But the oil is extracted solely from the seeds. Along the lines of: Tomatoes are safe for humans, BUT the leaves, roots, and stem of the plant are toxic to humans. Asparagus plants and stems are safe for humans BUT the fruit berry of the plant is highly toxic to humans.
