There are many reasons people may want to sell college textbooks. Students could want to sell college textbooks after they finished reading them, and are certain they won't need them in future semesters. They may want to simply get rid of them because they are heavy and take up a lot of space. If they are not used by the people that currently own them, they may have better use for someone else.

The college or university itself may choose to profit by selling them if they won't be useful in any future academic curriculum. Booksellers that offer a general variety of books often put textbooks up for sale during different times of the year.

People can sell these types of books in many different ways. They can sell them to an online textbooks company that buys used textbooks. They can list them at any number of online websites and advertise them for sale. They can then wait the positive responses to come in over time.

Another option is to sell them to a site that buys them right away. The person selling the books can do a quick search to see if the books they have are bought by the company. After sending in a request and agreeing on a price, the company may offer a free shipping label that is printed out and attached to the package. Once it has been shipped, the package is tracked. After it arrives at the company’s warehouse, it is processed. A check is then sent to the customer. The person can also receive a credit on the website, if they prefer.

Books can also be sold at flea markets and at consignment shops all over the country. Individuals may also place ads in newspapers and magazines to say they have these items for sale.

In busy cities, people carry them to a street corner and peddle them at very low prices. This can be one way of raising fast cash while also opening up the world of academic reading to a whole new group of people, provided selling items on the street is not against the law in that locality and that weather is cooperative.

Libraries are also a place to peddle them. Libraries always need great academic books, and their budgets are usually restricted, so they would love to be offered nominally priced products like these to stock their shelves for their patrons to enjoy. Some may only accept free donations.

They can also be bartered for the services of professionals who like to read. For example, someone who runs a dog walking service and is a reader may agree to walk a person's dog free for a month in return for a large supply of these items. Or they may also be willing to pay just pennies on the dollar so the bookseller can make a little profit in the transaction as well.
