One of the best homemade garden gifts to give is a garden gift basket. Instead of trying to buy one, why not make your own and individualize it for the person getting it. It's a thoughtful gift that will be used and you will be remembered for giving it.

There are some "don'ts" when it comes to gift baskets: Don't give an item that you know the person won't use; Don't give an item that you want for yourself, hoping they'll give it to you; Don't include an item that you didn't give any thought to; Don't give a flimsy item that will break.

Well known for soothing frazzled nerves, a scented bath is also considered a true luxury by many women and a lot of men if they would admit it. And even young children enjoy the experience. To make an herb concoction that will please everyone, one must dry large quantities of lemon balm, lemon verbena, sweet marjoram, rosemary, any of the mints, lavender, and rose germanium. One must also substitute any fragrant leaves as chosen. After the herbs are dry, they should be put in fancy glass jars to give as a gift.

For ideas of garden gifts, check out garden shops, greenhouse supply shops, and hardware stores. Often times people find items on sale or clearance. One must take a good look at these items prior to buying them. Take a look at their quality to make sure it isn't flimsy and won't break or bend on its first use. If inexpensive garden gloves, one must get two or three pairs as it's nice to have more than one pair.

Another idea is to look in Second Hand Stores for items that can be used as plant containers, gardening tools, and items for gardening art. One may find tools that just need a little cleaning up or oiling and can still be used. Other items may be perfect for garden art. This is the place to look for the ideal basket, box, or container to use as the gift basket.
