Better For Employers To Post Job Vacancies Online To Ensure A Diverse Range Of Applicants

Hiring the right employee is easier nowadays because of job boards that post job vacancies as well as resumes. When an employer does a search for CVs online, he is not limiting himself to applicants in the local paper but across a whole geographical area, even the world if the employer or recruiter sees fit to do so. It is easier, cheaper and faster to advertise a job online. One of the good things about a maturing market for job boards is that there are now specialist sites that post job vacancies for highly specific skills. These sites focus their resources by job, industry and location.
Successful job posting on the internet depends on ensuring that a job posting is seen by the right people at the right time. Targeted advertising undoubtedly gets the best results. For a hiring campaign to work well, it will need to be seen by people that are likely to respond. Response rates to campaigns tend to be higher with established job sites that have established their credibility with applicants and hirers. These ads are seen by the right target audience or people who are already searching for work that suits their skill set. Good response rates result in a successful campaign, which is the reason advertisers tend to stick to a job board that has given previous success.
Nowadays, there are a number of ways you can go about looking for workers, but the best way is to find one or two good online job posting boards and go through the CVs in their database. With the introduction of job boards, recruiters and employers now take a proactive approach to finding staff. Gone are the days when an employer posted an ad in the paper and waited for applicants to show up at the door. Today, employers can sift through CVs in a job board and select an applicant to interview based on the qualifications the employer sees. Given the low cost of posting in job boards these days, it makes sense to go to two or three job boards to post job vacancies.
A downside of todays availability of information and internet accessibility is the voluminous amount of data that can flood an employers job postings. This has become known as resume spam and is a trend than can only be a negative for employers or recruiters looking for a suitable hire. Given that todays recovering economy is still not active enough to absorb a laid-off workforce, it is only natural that jobseekers will inundate job boards and posted job vacancies with CVs. Fortunately, new software technologies and methodologies enable the newer crop of job boards to filter out CVs that are useless for a particular job posting. Still, it is the employers responsibility to make his advert as specific as possible so that a particular boards filtering system can do its job properly. While the larger and more popular job boards will give an employer a very large pool of potential applicants, it is in these very large pools where resume spam can rear its ugly head. An employer whose vacancy involves an unusual skill set may be better off going to specialist boards. The downside is that the applicant pool may not be as large as those of the more popular sites.
Normally, companies will choose to register with their favourite job boards and then post job vacancies for their various departments in that single board. A better strategy for recruiting well qualified applicants is to target the companys job postings from a selection of different job boards which will allow the employer or recruiter to search for CVs online in a more targeted fashion. Not all the generic job boards work well for all the types of job vacancies that a particular company may have. Occasionally, some of these generic boards will be totally unsuitable for a company to post job vacancies. It is for this reason that it is better to have a selection of job websites on hand to attract a more diverse range of candidates. Managing applications across a range of job boards should be aided by using an applicant tracking system. These programs keep track of all the rejected or shortlisted applicants. They also track the response rates from each job website that a company has used to post job vacancies so that employers can tell which website is working well or not. It will then be a simple decision to remove those which are not performing to your expectations.
