Why is yoga so beneficial during pregnancy?

It is during pregnancy, most women start to "listen to" their body. Once this awareness develop, they also become aware of the importance of correct nutrition and the avoidance of various stimulants. In this stage, women would really have the desire to start practicing some form of exercises that will suit the pregnancy. Although yoga is not an exercise routine, its enormous benefits-physical, mental, emotional and spiritual-make it an ideal way of managing the many changes taking place on these levels.
Certain woman must have practiced yoga or exercised regularly however, these forms of exercises will not be effective and good for body and might reduce the fitness level as well. However, taking a better approach towards it might bring changes in the centre of gravity, weight gain and in the several preventive measures the situation cause. It takes about 12 weeks for flucuating hormone levels to stabilise during pregnancy and between weeks 7-14 it is important to take things gently-even if already practicing yoga. It is wise to concentrate on breathing and relaxation exercises during these weeks. However, specific pregnancy yoga classes are the best option in this situation even though the woman is experienced or new to yoga.
Techniques for relaxation, breathing and visualization reduce tension from body and mind, establishing a relational bond between mother and baby. At the same time, various birthing positions and optimal foetal positions are explored along with teaching several techniques to incorporate sound, visualization and breath.
There are possibilities for few women to experience certain pregnancy related conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, heartburn, blood pressure problems and these conditions might reawake the "body memory" to earlier injuries causing lot of difficulties. These conditions can make way to unhappy time, especially when women hope to have a happy and enjoyable time. Pregnant women can overcome these conditions in a therapeutic way or preventive way by practicing yoga or with recommended diets.
The techniques are practiced with the awareness of integral breath in mind. These techniques will give you peace and calmness for mind, which is very important at this situation where fear and anxiety might arise at any moment. Another important requirement is the ability to "let go" various issues that might arise such as the non-pregnant body shape and the physical and mental tensions along with all the contractions during the labour period. Few pregnancy yoga teachers conduct special birth preparation classes for women especially for late pregnancy and postnatal recovery for mothers and babies.
