Situated on Gran Canaria's southern coast, the popular resort of Playa del Ingles is a large, purpose-built holiday resort that attracts all kinds of visitors thanks to its diversity of accommodation and facilities. Playa del Ingles is actually the second largest resort in Europe after Benidorm, and is the perfect Gran Canaria holiday destination for anyone looking for a lively getaway. The peak holiday period between July and August is when things really pick up on Playa del Ingles holidays, as large groups of young people from across the UK and northern Europe gather here to enjoy the sun, fun and nightlife of this exciting resort. In the off-peak months the resort has a much greater diversity of ages, with couples of all ages and families coming to take advantage of all the resort has to offer.

Built in the 1960s, the location for Playa del Ingles (which literally translates as "Englishman's Beach") was chosen because of the superb stretch of coastline with its wide sandy beach. The beach is backed by an attractive promenade and is the focal point for much of the daytime activity on Playa del Ingles holidays. Sunbathers spread out across the beach, while the shallow waters attract crowds of swimmers and provide activities such as scuba diving, wind surfing, banana boat rides and jet skiing. Behind the promenade a row of bars and restaurants give beachgoers somewhere to get refreshments and shade from the hot summer sun.

Out on the water you can turn your Playa del Ingles holiday into something of a nature trip, with whale and dolphin watching tours offering a pleasant day out, and a great way to catch some rays. If you prefer your fish at the end of a line, big game fishing trips can also be arranged from the local harbour. Other activities available on holidays to Playa del Ingles include a water park, a thrill ride theme park, an 18-hole golf course and a variety of island tours, including the popular jeep safaris.

Nightlife in Playa del Ingles is very lively, with a wide selection of bars and nightclubs to keep revellers entertained well into the wee small hours. The Kasbah Centre is the main hub of activity, where bar after bar competes for business with all kinds of drinks offers and incentives to entice you in. If a disco fails to take your fancy after the bars and pubs begin shutting up shop, the local casino gives Playa del Ingles a more sedate late night retreat.
