Twitter has become one of the most popular social media networking sites on the Internet. In terms of popularity, it ranks just behind Facebook and YouTube. Now it is a proven fact that Twitter is one of the most effective ways of staying updated with your customers and followers.
That means if used properly, Twitter can be used as an effective social media marketing tool to promote your brands and products. However, if not used properly Twitter can also ruin the reputation of your business. Many people out there are implementing some wrong marketing ideas on Twitter and expecting go get great results. Let’s take a close look at some of the main flaws that can harm your business and lose customers:
• Tweeting nothing but links: Let me make it clear for you. Suppose you are a Twitter user and you followed a company or a guy and suddenly find out that in every hour that particular account is posting tons of links that has nothing to do with your interest. Won’t you feel extremely annoyed and immediately unfollow the user? Posting links are not that bad only when you give some interesting description with it. But, if it is only link and link after link, then pretty soon you are going to lose your followers and harm the reputation of your business. It is utmost important to build a relationship via regular conversation with your followers and potential customers. That is the key secret behind promoting your brands and services effectively.
• Too much Tweeting: This is yet another mistake companies make on Twitter and get nothing out of it. Let me make it clear for you, what is tweeting too much? There are many people out there who think Tweeting every 15 minutes is a great way to promote your brands. The more you tweet the better. But excessive tweet can bother your followers and force them to unfollow you without giving a second thought about the matter. According to marketing gurus it is better to tweet once in every two hours. But before that, you really need to stop thinking about how often you are going to tweet.
• Catchy Tweets: Remember the old rule of marketing? The more you can attract people the better. And your tweets will do that exact thing for you. However, tweeting only about your products and services won’t be able to grab attention of your followers. It is a good idea to tweet interesting updates and links in between your promotional tweets. Also, make sure your tweets are grammatically correct. Posting incorrect and irrelevant tweets are like killing your own business unintentionally.
• Unfollowing people: Increasing your followers count is considered as one of the most important things on Twitter. It is important to unfollow people who do the things you don’t like. It is important because whatever they tweet, it will reflect in your Twitter stream and of course on your business. This way, you will miss some followers but it is better to maintain a list of loyal followers than a tainted one.
As part of your social media marketing campaign Twitter marketing can help you reach a new level of profit. It's a valuable online resource that can help you increase your presence online if used properly.
