OMEGA is a famously respected Swiss watch brand, and its success on a global scale has resulted in some premier public figures choosing to spend their time wisely: with OMEGA on their wrist. Oscar-winning Nicole Kidman, to many the defining actress of her generation, is just one big-name star who counts ‘the hours’ with OMEGA watches.

Kidman has been an OMEGA watches ambassador since 2005, two years after she won the ‘Best Actress Oscar’ in 2003 for her portrayal of manic-depressive author Virginia Woolf in ‘The Hours’. The former Mrs Tom Cruise has undergone a massively successful career transformation over the past decade, positioning her as one of Hollywood’s finest actresses and meaning her role as watch ambassador is a significant coup for the brand.

Since becoming an ambassador over five years ago, Kidman has made appearances at flagship OMEGA watches boutique stores and fronted popular advertising campaigns including the highly successful ‘My Choice’ promotional run. In 2010, she was cast as the official ambassador of the new OMEGA Ladymatic line, an elegantly feminine collection of bracelet and leather strap watches set with sparkling diamonds.

OMEGA counts a number of prestigious public figures among its team of brand ambassadors. Male movie stars Daniel Craig and George Clooney have both featured alongside Kidman on the silver screen, in ‘The Invasion’ and ‘The Peacemaker’ respectively, and also sport timepieces by OMEGA in ad campaigns and their own films.

It’s not just the Hollywood elite who join Kidman in representing the brand though, with diverse personalities including supermodel Cindy Crawford, sports star Michael Phelps and astronaut and ‘second man on the moon’ Dr Buzz Aldrin all counted as OMEGA ambassadors.

Founded in 1848 in the Swiss town of La Chaux de Fonds, OMEGA watches have come a long way in the intervening years. By the mid-1970s, the watch manufacturer was announced as the largest producer of finished watches in Switzerland. The variety of movements showcased by OMEGA today demonstrates the considerable advances applied to the company’s traditional Swiss watchmaking background.

As new additions to the OMEGA catalogue continue to redefine our relationship with watches, more high-profile stars are sure to follow in the footsteps of Kidman in flying the flag for these very special watches.
